Each voice card would need its own internal bus, but that's true of
any CPU-driven voice-card design. The master, on the other hand, only
needs one; since each voice card only needs a small amount of RAM,
they can all be mapped into the master CPU's address space, and select
logic on the card can determine whether any of them is supposed to be
"listening" for a write from the master.

Of course there may be other design considerations that drove them not
to go this way for the Matrix-12, but in principle the idea is sound.
