I think the Mutable Instruments CVpal purports to be a class compliant
USB-MIDI device while running software USB at Low Speed, and although I
don't know off the top of my head what microcontroller it's using, I don't
think it's a very fancy one.

It may well be breaking some of the rules; it has been known to experience
compatibility problems with some hosts; but it also works pretty well with
many hosts.
