You can't beat PCB front panel pricewise.
I've been doing PCB panels and entire cases before it was a thing.
All the good features were already listed by others, so let me just
point out one thing from my case-making experience. Only because it's
PCB you can easily solder stiffeners made of different parts of PCB
making it solid as a rock. The biggest thing I made out of PCB was 140cm
long cover for DIY keyboard and it feels almost like made out of 1mm
steel, and because it's easily solderable, I could build fancy mounting
system, so there are absolutely no screws on top.
There is no way to make metal face plates in small quantities affordable.
