IMHO keeping it below 1MB is good choice. Good quality full-HD
resolution photo can be 400kB, who needs more. I'v been getting photos
in emails from random iphoners with over 20 megapixels resolution and
20MB in size, while optical photo quality was equivalent to blured VGA.
I mean it's like GPRS - 3G -> LTE -> 5G that people get so obsessed
today. You give more bandwidth to satisfy needs that are self-propelled
by bandwidth availability, then demand rises for more than anyone has
imagined. And then will come 6G because why not, and it doesn't ever stop.
Some people are keeping local archives of SDIY emails, and while some
past years might take in total 50MB/year, it may soon turn into 500MB
per week.
