Yes.  Otherwise a break-before-make switch would produce a brief but 
abruptly muted section when the wiper of the switch moves from processed to 
unprocessed.  (And a make-before-break switch would short the processed and 
unprocessed signals together for a brief period every time the switch is 
toggled.)

One downside of this method is that you probably get significant HF bleed 
when the switch is connected to the op-amp output, because the other output 
is still connected to the output through the resistor.  Op-amp output 
impedance rises with increasing frequency.
