Neither do I.
But some people want a specific vintage sound. So they build things with the PCBs laid out exactly like the original and using original hard to get parts.
Also working in electronics you have to deal with parts going EOL (End Of Life). Some places I've worked have environmentally controlled warehouses with millions of dollars of parts. That being said I have a stash of 3080s, 3280s, 3046s and vactrols in my basement.

But why storing random "soon to be deprecated" components
other than for maintenance and finishing an ongoing production?
