When one ventures even slightly beyond ORDINARY concepts of sampling theory/practice, much truly wonderful MAGIC is encountered: multi-rate DSP, perfect-reconstruction filters, over-sampling, decimation, pre-decimation filtering, digital interpolation, noise-shaping, bandpass sampling, and much more.  An incomplete study virtually guarantees incorrect use of even seemingly familiar terminology, and misunderstandings of significant practical importance.
