The best fonts for OCR are...surprise, OCR A and OCR B. A mono-spaced font like Consolas would also work better. 

The only problem I can see is that your resumé may be slightly less easy for your prospective employers to read...using their eyes.

Actually, magazines from the second half of the 20th Century often used common typefaces that are still around.

In the case of the two articles I "re-constructed" (mentioned earlier) both were like that. The Scope Artist is in plain old Helvetica and the MIF filter is in Optima. I own the Adobe version of Optima—it came with my LaserWriter 8500. No prob'.

Identifying an unknown typeface is much less of a problem today than it was 20 years ago. There are several "what font is this?" sites that work very well. All you have to do is upload a sample.


That 8500 is the best 600DPI 11" x 17" monochrome laser printer of all time, BTW.

Same here. I have to fire up a PPC emulator running OS 9.0.4 to look at old documents.

This is why I use VueScan for everything. I had to get the Pro version just for my slide scanner as it supports infrared cleaning for transparencies.
