This is why I prefer to use a permissive licence like the ISC Licence.

A lot of the stuff I have on Github is derived fairly directly from GPLed code, so it remains GPLed.

I could probably care quite a lot more about locking down the stuff I write in case I decide to make money with it, but I like coming up with the idea and letting someone else have the hard work of making it a product.
