Kicad works great for me. When I'm prototyping something on the
workbench, I'm usually updating a schematic in Kicad as I go.
As for scans of old schematics, I'll just take the time to recreate them
manually in Kicad. This also lets me study and get familiar with the
circuit if it's something new.
