The results are in. I got 50 responses, thank you very much!

4 x A separate list “trading”, for trading of diy modules only.
10 x A separate list “marketplace”, for trading, buying and selling of diy modules and parts.
7 x Both of the above.

21 x No new list, take this business to AH / Muff / etc.
other:
1 x don’t care
1 x keep it as it is
1 x don’t mind the odd post on this list
2 x no buy/sell/trade on this list

18 x I would subscribe to this new list
18 x I would not subscribe to this new list

Sooo, interesting... A black and white view would be: 21 in favor of some form of a new list, 22 against.

Also quite a few other remarks. First of all, thank you for the kind words and appreciation for this list. The most important thing is that everybody wants to keep buying/selling/trading off this list. No sales pitches. Keep this list for technical and educational discussions. I think there is no discussion about that, it is the way. Although we currently allow for the sporadic for sale/trade message which has never been a problem. (A left-over board, ptc’s, etc.)

There were a few comments that there isn’t really a good existing place for sdiy stuff to be traded/sold/bought. EM/Muff/AH generally don’t provide or allow for this.

Some would like two separate lists, one for trading and one for outright buying/selling. But I think that would be overdoing it.

I could setup a marketplace list and see how it goes. It’s not much work for me. If it indeed fills a void and becomes a succes, great! If not, we delete it. Obviously this would (must) not impact this list. None of you will be subscribed to it, you have to do that yourself if you want to. So in that respect members of this list will not notice any change. Cross-posting between the marketplace list and this one will be strictly forbidden. There will be a monthly posting with list rules. Perhaps the list should be (initially) moderated.

Thoughts?

We currently have around 1100 members on this list. To be viable a new list would need a reasonable number of subscribers. 20..50 to start with I think. Therefor a quick straw poll:
