Interesting.  The Vishay 1N52xx series are rated for a test current of
20mA for low voltage devices, only reducing once you get up to 13V.
The series I normally use in low-current applications - BZX79C - are
rated at a test current of 5mA.  A 5.1V zener passing 5mA only
dissipates 25mW or so, which is a tad more finger-friendly.
