I replaced the ramp cap from .0022uf to 0.022uf
And the LM311 feedback pulse cap from 22pf to 470pf
And the VCO seems to behave more stable..
I don't have to go too low now Vbe currents wise
on the transistor pair.
I did not think of that possibility..
I tried again all the MAT01, 01 & 12 pairs
with these new caps but There is still a kick back
portion of the span when I lower the Vbe current that is not very far to
occur..
I'll keep my 2N3904 matched pair !

Just remember to increase the reset time too, otherwise you'll not
discharge it completely for the flyback.
One of the disadvantages with sawtooth cores over triangle ones.
