[sdiy] Wonder plugs?

Hi,

Has anyone got any info/sources on some plugs/sockets from the 70s 
called 'wonder plugs'?
Apparently they're quite like bananas but not 4mm or 2mm (the 'standards')
The question was posed to me via a customer who knows Trevor Pinch 
(Analog Days author) who is trying to repair an old synth he made in the
