[sdiy] Sourcing rare parts, need help

Hi !
So i'm on a new project, maybe some of you have heard of it : Fabric
Astronaut Pathos mixer.

And it's the first time i'm a bit in trouble finding parts, especially its
semi 2N3822.
It seems a bit hard to find, and if i can find it, its price is really
different from different sellers.
So how can i be sure a seller is not a scam ?
For example, is digiPArt a good way to go ? Are there such difference from
manufacturers that one can cost 71€ and the other 3€ ?
What about suppliers like "little diode", which seem to have huge stocks,
but.. is this real ?

I hope i won't be too off topic, and i don't want to make a pro or cons
topic, i would better learn a good way to search such rare parts without
thinking i'm throwing my money away !
