Indeed!!!  Back in 1972 with Walsh functions I had a beautiful row of Xmas trees on the scope and supposed  that the audio would be stunning as well: - - sounded basically like PWM!  Lesson  (No. 2) learned.  It’s the SPECTRUM that we HEAR!


Lesson No. 1 was that all perfectly periodic waveforms are equally boring.  A dynamic spectrum (e.g., VCF) and/or purposeful animation is required.  Moog "Complexity and Dynamics".
