thanks Mark, I never heard of these before but I see mouser carries
them, including some split +/- 15V supplies - perfect.

should these be followed up with linear regulators as others have suggested?

datasheet says ripple is "±15V .......... 150mVpk-pkmax." on the 40W
model.. but i've also been told to not trust datasheets..
