Surely the idea of this product is to sell it in large enough numbers to 
make money from people who think they would like to learn to play but 
probably won't do anything more than buy it and play with it for a few 
weeks.

That is, the music tech equivalent of the fondue set, the ice cream 
maker, gas powered BBQs, hot tubs, indoor trampolines...

Yeah, I know, I'm getting even more cynical as I get older.
