[sdiy] Why do LCDs die?

A little plug for Encore Electronics, the Z80 retrofitter (JP-8, Moog Source, etc). I installed his Source MIDI board for someone once and he's a very competent fellow. Even sent him the mobo from the aforementioned synth to troubleshoot an intermittent problem with his upgrade and he fixed it at no charge! 

I believe he's with DSI now, so not sure he's still doing those interfaces any more.
