Hi
A little comment from history: the E510 chip has been developed by the
company "Böhm", which was well known here in Germany for kits for home
organs. Böhm was quite ahead in technology. But they feared, that they
would sell the chip not well enough in the musical instruments industry
because of the "smiled at"-image of their home organs. Böhm had asked
Doepfer earlier already, whether he was interested in a MIDI-chip for
keyboards. When it came to production they agreed, that the chip should
be distributed under the Doepfer brand, because of the better "image" in
the synth producers community. (to my knowledge in fact the E510 never
was used by other brands than Böhm, Doepfer and Fatar).
