[sdiy] Roland's cross mod and metal sync

This is a great writeup, Tom. I spent a long train ride in Japan reading about this very thing. Their economy in the design of these features is interesting, too! In the case of the JX8P,I think I remember it was a single BJT that muted the DCO. Very cheap "cross-mod" indeed.
