[sdiy] stereo optical microscope for assembly and repair

What is everyone using these days for stereo scopes?

My eyes are finally pooched and I am looking for something with a decent field of
view.

So far, I am seeing AmScope products as a good contender. $650 seems to be the 
going rate.

if anyone has any preferences, or recs or advice I would love to hear it.

Was hoping to do something for less than $400.
