Early pioneers who worked in garages, as opposed to industrial research facilities — and anyone who fits that mold

DIY designers, particularly those whose shared designs have helped build the community
Design anthologists, list group mods, event organizers, and other teachers and promoters of the craft/hobby
Circuit Benders and prolific DIY builders of note
The (indie) Eurorack scene (and its predecessors in other formats)
Maybe boutique / one-man shops, even outside modular, like Bruce Forat’s, even if their results are pro quality

Personally, I’d add indie software guys like Todd Rundgren, Urs Heckmann and Steve Duda(and many more)... but that’s just me

It might be a worthwhile idea to spilt the story into homebrew / “true” DIY, and boutique professionals, so there’s space for both artsy hackers like Tim Kaiser or H.G. (another software guy, sorry), and serious pros like Paul Schreiber ... and to cover the evolution of some across those boundaries (a number of Euro pros, and software guys like Urs, are good examples)
