Haha,

This talk about the SN76477 brought back some great memories for me, too.
  My first "rhythm generator", also a breadboard but with a small 
aluminum control panel with switches and knobs. We actually used it in a 
few jams. This was 1983 or so. Eventually i hooked up a RS color 
computer to it and programmed the killer 6809E cpu in assembly code. I 
must have burned at least 800 doobies debugging that one. As for a 
digital emulation of the SN76477, huh, what?!

  The sound generator chip is enough fond memory but that old issue of 
Byte magazine had me falling over with laughter. 64 whopping kilobytes 
of RAM (on a card no less.)
