> Turning it into some elitist “you can only use a mail client created prior to 1995 because harrumph” group is ridiculously anti-user and unnecessary. Is that your goal, plaintext email fanpeople?
Speaking just for myself as an plaintext email fan person, no that’s not my intention at all. I assumed (wrongly?) that any modern mail client on whatever platform would be able to handle plaintext. I don’t see what’s “anti-user” about it. On the contrary, we’re getting many more complaints now about the formatting getting mangled by trying to use something slightly more sophisticated than we ever got when it was simple.
Ultimately, I just want it to work. I’m not wedded to any particular technology. It seemed to work before, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If we can sort whatever is going on with the HTML email and make it so that we don’t get weird messages and a list of unnecessary references at the bottom of things, that’s fine.
