In mass production?
did you have all the routing options?
I'd be very interested, genuinely, to read the specs and hear it.

not if it's designed for manufacture from the get go.

so, you'd rather see trees on the side of synths?
In short, NOTHING, that is manufacturer is environmentally friendly,
heck even using the power from my battery which has come from the
powerstations to type this is bad for the environment.
I still believe in what I say.
you're welcome to your opinion of course.

ok, so, tell me, your polysynth that you designed, and built, did you
market it?
I'm happy to listen to constructive criticism from others who've done
what I've done, but I really have little time for people who claim to
have "done everything" and have nothing to show for it.

Suggest you re-read.
I never said it was a pain, just saying that that is what it took to get
the synth we wanted.
I've ZERO interest in recreating the past, ask anyone who knows me.

as I say, I'd welcome to see your poly, see the specs, and hear it with
the number of components you say that is hugely under 5000.
please, do share, we may all learn something.
As for the synths being overdesigned, well, that's your opinion. As a
manufacturer you don't "over" design anything, as it would add
unnecessary cost.. you design what you believe in, and yes there was
features that we pulled from 002 and 008 because of cost.
But again, please share your manufacturing and sales experience.

again, you're welcome to your opinion, I don't agree with you.
I like the concept, and the fact that the front panel can be replaced to
work with other synth techniques is a great idea (from a manufacturing
stand point as you have one box, one PCB and only a panel that changes
across multiple products).
