I've tried to get an answer from Cirrus Logic if this "freeze" bit can be
set from the very start, resulting in the same DC offset every time,
avoiding the need of an initial calibration period and disconnection of all
possible input stimuli. But I never got an answer, and now the codec I
asked about (another Cirrus CS multichannel codec) is starting to get
ancient.
