I have fairly minimal test gear, too. Old Hitachi dual channel scope
(Freebie!). Cheap $25 DVM. $50 surplus Sorensen lab supplies. Some
simple logic probes and other odds and ends.

I use an ancient Tektronix 2230 dual-channel scope, and a $20 Victor 921
(cheap Chinese special) DVM. I have a couple other things, but they
basically never get switched on. My measurement needs are pretty basic.
