Those little Lepei mini amps are great.    I have a couple of them running music in my workshop and garage, and another for testing.      Cheap, small, and they sound pretty good

Rather like Qunicas, I mostly use just a scope (Owon PDS7102T) and a multimeter (Uni-T UT58D). I have a Lepy mini-amp for monitoring signals and a Sequential Pro-One handy as a signal generator. I also have several homemade power supplies on my desk (+/-15V for modular, +/-12V for Eurorack, variable 4-18V for stomp boxes). The other tool I use all the time is a PICKit3 USB programmer - couldn’t live without that.

 

About the only thing I sometimes miss is some digital logic analysis of some type for debugging comms (I2C, SPI, UART etc) since that’s always a pain in the neck.

I now have the DSO Shell which I honestly think suits 90% of synth DIY needs. Used to have the DSO 128 kit which was ok too.

 

I have had a slew of cheap DMMs, just waiting to have the cash to buy a better one. Timmy Churches of O&C fame has recommended I buy this one:

Other than that I use a cable I made with some alligator clips on one end and a 1/4¨plug on the other, which I stick into a fender pocket battery powered Bassman amp just to hear signals when troubleshooting.
