I think it's highly unlikely that a $20 kit scope is going to stand up to a
professional unit like the Rigol in any kind of serious testing.
However, it seems likely that the kit scope is likely to be "good enough"
for the majority of what someone building kits, occasionally
troubleshooting, or viewing waveforms is likely to need.
I have a DSO Quad cellphone sized portable scope (also not what I would
consider to be professional grade) that I use for nearly everything, and
have for 6 years now. There have bee a few times it's let me down, but by
and large I've gotten by just fine.
