If you can't get in at least three or four diode drops between the power
rails, it really limits the kind of analog circuitry you can build -
though it's true that having basically no passives and no bipolar
transistors, only MOS transistors designed for digital use, is a much
bigger issue.  Low voltage is more a consequence than a cause of the fact
this process is unsuitable for analog.
