I've had some samples on my bench for a few months now, and when I've
had time to run through some tests I am finding it a definite
improvement over the original (I don't have any V2164 to compare, only
original SSM2164 I bought from ADI when they were an active line).

As Mattias said, the main improvement is that you can drive it harder,
which pushes up the S and so you get a better SNR.  Another nice
improvement is the control input is increased to 10k, so you don't
need a voltage limiting resistor in the Irwin linearisation circuit
(one less component on the BOM).  The lighter loading also means you
can be more aggressive with CV filtering if you so wish.
