If you dip the shaft and threads in melted ozokerite, it will certainly 
slow down the pot , but won't hurt it. I would do this upside down to 
prevent it from getting all the way inside.

ozokerite melts at a pretty high temp and it is sticky. It's a 
micro-crystalline wax so it does have some lubricity although it feels 
sticky.
