"IPC compliant footprint wizard" is one of the features I miss most, as it
automagically creates the 3d step file for you at the same time.
Altium "update the pcb" is that way because you can update in either
direction. Most of the time you're updating the pcb from the schematic but
occasionally it's useful to make changes (e.g. deleting a no longer needed
component) in the opposite direction. I suppose it could all be
instantaneous but then I'm not sure how it would handle issues like missing
or incorrect footprints.
