[sdiy] Eagle for PCB Layout

Use several Cad/PCB type of tools.
I have the Entire Altium package for several years now. I also use Orcad CIS tools with PCB, Librarian etc (I have 3 seats with USB Dongles) I have several Mac hosted Schematic tools that I use on occasion but revert to PC centric tools for BGA as I have all of my BGA libs feted on Altium and Orcad.
I got Orcad/Allegro infused while at Motorola/Freescale as we were a Corp. account of Cadence.
I don’t care about price as about the ability to support designs my customers wish me to take over or projects where they insist on a pro tool chain that they use as well.
I don’t fit into the Hacker profile due to the constraints of my many years in design at a semiconductor as it’s minion.
Still , I say if it works for you, then have at it.
Unintuitive is a true issue, I would say that about software tools as well.
Our Audio tools at DSPConcepts help take the sting out of programming but not entirely.
I am sure someone will say “But you don’t supportive Mac” or some nonsense. When did Apple ever care about engineering tools on their own platform?
I started doing PCB with Red/Blue artwork and started to use PC’s when they supported Schematic capture and PCB layout.
Still, who cares as they joy is the building of the module and adding it to my rack of audio processing goods.
still, I like the mac as my main computer, but I share my desk with a PC for schematic and Audio Precision use.
just my 2 pfennigs…

It is available in non-commercial, small business, and pro prices. There's a free demo available on the site to try but it only gives you 14 days to decide. Personally, it took me a lot longer than that to not get cross with it. But I paid for it so had to grit my teeth and get on with it.
