[sdiy] Filter slopes

Tom - good question.


I recall hearing David's presentation and simultaneously thinking that a variable-slope filter would do the  job.  But the fact that it was to mind may have been that it might have been in his Preprint, or perhaps he mentioned it during the talk, or just that half the people there were probably thinking the same thing!


I suspect than the thinking was whether or not, given that a spectral shape changing with the amplitude was an essential idea, if this was a better way than just moving the cutoff.  And of course, exactly how would we change (approximately enough) the slope.
