[sdiy] History of SDIY?

One name that puzzlingly hasn't popped up, but was instrumental in getting a certain generation of SDIYer moving: Gene Stopp.

I'm sure I'm the only person for whom the ASM1 was a huge step into the world of synthesizers, and DIY electronics in general.  At the time, the thought of some independent person having PCBs produced was pretty unheard of, and he (and later Magnus) backed it up with good documentation.
