In the case of engineering drawings, "Datum" is defined as a reference
point, line, plane, or surface. In this instance, the plural is "Datums."
When GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) notation is used, Datum
Symbols are used to call out how the part is to be jigged for inspection,
eliminating a lot of inconsistencies.
