The actual MIDI electrical specification can be downloaded for FREE from
the MMA website (you might need to register if you've not already done so).
The latest electrical spec - document ca33.pdf - describes in clear terms
and diagrams the shield connections on IN/OUT/THRU sockets and in the cable.
