[sdiy] Yo, check out this plate reverb

First thought — it would be infinitely cheaper / easier to buy a new steel plate that isn’t already covered in power coated paint.
But because Ikea buys in such great quantities it’s probably cheaper to buy a finished plate from Ikea and sand it versus a new raw sheet from a local steel supplier. Just sounds like a lot of unnecessary dust exposure and elbow grease.

Making a stereo version would be great. But also adding some kind of electroacoustic / mechanical damping mechanism would be cool. Like a locking brake caliper [like that for a bicycle] with cotton pads to adjust the damping, thus reducing the hi-to-mid range ring. Positioning the piezo elements seems to have a great amount of impact on the resonant frequencies, which would also be nice to control as well.

After I build the next 30 some Deckard’s Dream, Buchla + Euro modules on my bench, I swear I’m going to build my own. ;)
