Yes I remember seeing that years ago when the Modulus e-zine was first
published and thinking it looked vaguely familiar.  Turns out an
earlier version was published by Tim Orr in the May 1982 edition of
ETI in a series of articles on electro-music circuits - definitely
worth hunting out.  I haven't found any earlier versions of that
circuit, and on closer inspection the style is not exactly ETI
although the circuit is exactly the same as the Orr one.

All fascinating stuff!
