RoHS versus vactrols is a fun one. Plenty of vactrol-based modules are
being offered for sale by European retailers. We have substitutes for
lead solder but not for the cadmium photocells in vactrols. And I've had
a recent spike in Web site visits that the geolocation says are from Iraq,
which has caused me to think a bit about export controls. Nothing in a
synthesizer is realistically of any use to people building military
hardware, but having to explain and document that to the appropriate
authorities is a headache I don't need.
