Earliest reference to CMOS linear applications i can find is Nationals
1973 App Note. While AN-88 doesn't specifically call out a schmitt
trigger inverting buffer like the '106, the standard integrator config
depicts.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's an earlier "Designer's Casebook" other
"Idea for Design" that demonstrates linear application of CMOS.
Don't know if oldest but 1979's Syncussion by Pearl uses 3 CD4069 buffers
per VCO. 1 as integrator. 2 in series with feedback to build out a
schmitt buffer.
