[sdiy] Jack Shielding

I don’t know if I would trust paint as a long term solution. If the jack ever loosened up it could easily scrape off a little paint

Is this an audio connection or CV? Could you use a small audio isolation transformer?

Would painting the panel be an alternative?

I've seen it work on many thousands of USB devices that needed their boxy USB connector housing to be isolated from the edges of the rectangular hole in the metal casing of the product.

I have made something that uses a jack. One of the connections on the jack is attached to the outside and thread. In typical applications this is probably used as the ground. However, in my usage it is not the ground. I end up shorting out my circuit if I attach the jack to the panel.

Is there a product that exists to shield a jack in this sort of situation? I am currently using plastic wrap from my kitchen to shield it, but I would like a better solution.

Changing the configuration of the jack is not an option.

Thanks for your help.
