[sdiy] Vector Slit-N-Wrap

Hi fellow ww folks,

I buy the prestripped wire in various lengths and they come in tubes.

I find this works well and I can build up circuits pretty quick

I have a electric WW gun and a bit that also strips the wire . I find it gums up a bit after a few wraps and I usually get PO’d and go back to the tubes of pre-stripped wire.

I use boards that are machine screw sockets based and no soldering in needed. I put the passives on 16-pin carriers and plug it into the sockets on the boards.

Any questions, I would be happy to discuss methods off line if need be.

My email is THX1138 at earthlink.net <mailto:THX1138 at earthlink.net>

best regards,

Terry

I’ve never used the slit-n-wrap. 30 years ago I looked at the several WW tools that were available at the time (doubt anything has changed since then). I ended up getting a combo dispenser and stripper <https://www.grainger.com/product/2TDY1?cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!50916775557!!!s!81032193717!&ef_id=V5@6cQAABbqPZj@S:20171108171448:s&kwid=productads-adid%5e50916775557-device%5ec-plaid%5e81032193717-sku%5e2TDY1-adType%5ePLA>. It has a built in stripper located at the right distance from the cutter (about an inch strip distance). I found it to be a good timesaver. After some practice, it was pretty fast. From what I know about slit-n-wrap, it’s probably slightly slower but close, I would guess. I also found that the hand wrapper was better than the powered one because the powered one was too powerful.
