Through hole is the same, if you want new traces you make a new PCB. Or
you can use mod wires.
You can use modwires on SMT too, they're just a bit smaller :)

I don't follow.
You're saying a through hole PCB has more structural integrity than an
SMT PCB and that an SMT PCB can't hold a daughter PCB?
