[sdiy] Model D service

Quincas,
To me the biggest issue is the keyboard. Pretty much anything else is fixable somehow. The 2 that I've redone have all had wire pots (rheostats) for tuning. Might want to replace those with some good 10 turns and glue them to the boards. Keyboards were made with J wires and bus bars. Once those wear out it's pretty hard to keep them going. At one point you could buy bushings for the keyboards when those wore out. Don't know if you can still get those.
Good luck.
Jay S.

Subject: [sdiy] Model D service
Hey SDIY geniuses! Sorry if you´re getting this twice (if you´re in the AH list as well)
I was just hired to service a Model D. Just need cleaning of key contacts, pots and switches, tuning and callibration.
I´ve never done this, so I figured I´d ask you experienced folk to just tell me anything you think I should know before I open it up :)
Thanks in advance for any advice!
