I've been on this list since 1997. In that time we've slowly undergone many changes. In 1999  there were dozens of posts every day and nobody minded if someone asked for help repairing a power supply or needed a light bulb for a sewing machine. S-DIY was a large community and it was all part of the experience.

These days there seems to be a forum or group for every sub-topic under the sun and I think that in some respects things have become too specialized, too fragmented.

A video about unboxing a kit once a week doesn't bother me a bit. If I don't want to watch it I don't. Ultimately this is Rick's listserve and he has the last word but we've gotten along just fine (most of the time) without any need to "officially" change anything.
