[sdiy] TOG-top octave generator replacement for MG-1

I'm still preparing to refurbish a Radio Shack Concertmate MG-1. The TOG chip is blown. Is there a modern replacement for the original chip, like a PIC or something? I had to jury rig the keyboard contacts to 5V to get the envelope to trigger and I'd like to put it back into original condition while I'm working on it.

I know this has been discussed before but a search of my email archives turned up almost nothing.
