Not necessarily a time sink, if you have your parts printed by a professional company. It’s not that expensive.
I once re-designed a missing switch lever for my Hammond organ. This only took me a few days with Fusion 360, although I had never done such a thing before. Then I had it laser-sintered. I’m very pleased with the result.
